Estate Proceedings

When a loved one passes away, or when planning for the future, having experienced legal guidance makes a difficult process easier to navigate. Golding & Associates assists clients with wills, probate, trusts, and Surrogate’s Court litigation, as well as estate planning to protect assets and provide for loved ones.

Wills & Trusts
A will directs how your assets are distributed after your death and can name a guardian for minor children. A trust can help avoid probate, provide for beneficiaries over time, and offer greater control over how and when assets are distributed. We help clients draft and update wills and trusts tailored to their family and financial circumstances, so their wishes are clearly documented and legally enforceable.

Probate
Probate is the court-supervised process of validating a will and distributing a deceased person’s assets. We assist executors and administrators in navigating this process — filing the will with Surrogate’s Court, identifying and valuing assets, paying debts and taxes, and distributing property to beneficiaries in accordance with the will or, if there is no will, New York’s laws of intestacy.

Surrogate’s Court Litigation
Disputes can arise during probate or estate administration — over the validity of a will, the conduct of an executor or administrator, or the rights of beneficiaries. We represent clients in contested Surrogate’s Court matters, including will contests, accounting proceedings, and disputes among family members or beneficiaries.

Estate Planning
Planning ahead protects your family and ensures your wishes are honored. We help clients put plans in place — including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives — so that their assets are distributed as intended and their loved ones are spared unnecessary stress and expense.
